Affirm the Proposed Vision and Guiding Principles

What are the General Plan Update’s proposed Vision and Guiding Principles and what do they mean for Ventura County residents?

The Vision and Guiding Principles will create a framework of concepts that will be woven throughout the General Plan Update. These ideas will guide how policies are crafted and help determine if those policies fulfill the vision and guiding principles that were established earlier in the General Plan Update process. The proposed Vision and Guiding Principles were created through a combination of public input received in 2016 (as detailed in the Assets, Issues, and Opportunities Summary), direction from the Ventura County Board of Supervisors, and recommendation from the Ventura County Planning Commission.

The second round of public engagement is underway for the County of Ventura’s General Plan Update. Staff have already begun to visit municipal advisory and neighborhood councils as well as host open houses throughout the County. The public can visit these in-person opportunities or participate remotely.

A few of the opportunities to participate in the General Plan Update include providing your input through the methods noted below:

In addition to the questionnaires, the public is welcome to submit their comments, or hard copies of the questionnaire to the County by emailing responses directly to staff at generalplanupdate@ventura.org, mailing comments by U.S. Postal Service (Attn: General Plan Update, RMA Planning Division, 800 S. Victoria Avenue, CA 93009-1740), or by visiting the Planning Division (Hall of Administration, 3rd Floor, 800 S. Victoria Avenue, CA 93009) and submitting comments in person.
